I'd like to know what everyone has to say about there suspension lifts. How it rides, handles large dips or heaves in the road, how it's effected load carrying ability and towing ability. Include your tire type and size and shock set up and of course yr and model.

The reason I ask is my 04. 5 with skyjackers 2. 5 lift which includes front springs, control arms, and rear add-a-leaf is the worst set-up i can imagine. now my control arm bushings are worn out at 10k and skyjacker told me to get bent and they wouldn't even sell them to me. . I've gotta go through a dealer. I live in AK and when I bomb over a frost heave the front loads up the face and dumps off the otherside and It feels like it gonna slam my axle out the bottom of the truck. .

I love the look of lifted trucks, but more and more, I hate the headache of them. I have a 2000 2500 with a TC 4. 5 lift, currently torn out as it was all wornout with 60k miles on it. I am swapping it out with a 5. 5" fabtech kit. The stuff is HANDS DOWN better quality than the TC junk I yanked out. The TC stuff is great for a cheap lift, but the quality just aint there. My truck rode like crap with the TC stuff over tha past 30k miles. I just never had the cash or the time to swap it out.

What do you have the lift for, looks or do you wheel it? If you are mainly a pavement pounder with the want for larger tires, more agressive stance and the occasional offroad trek, talk to Don Thuren at ThurenFabrication. He has recently developed and released a radius arm setup for the 3rd gen trucks. From what I have heard from the people that had the prototypes, its a HUGE improvement in the drivability of th truck. Also, get rid of that AAL, all they do is make the rear end of these trucks a damn pogo stick and make it bounce even more than they already do. Dont know if atlas spring makes a re-arched pack for the 3rd gens or not, but they might be a way to go. Reduce the size of the block if you can too, I dont know the size of the 3rd gen block, but the smaller, the better, less wheel hop. BTW, you will have to ask Don, I dont know if you can only run 2-3" of lift with his arms, so that you will have to ask him.

Here is a Pic of Dons radius setup.

I have the TC 4. 5 inch lift with Toyo 35x12. 50 on 18s on a 2006 Megacab. I agree that lifts are tough on a vehicle. The TC is an "economy" lift, which is fine with me since i won't be taking my $50 K truck off roading anytime soon. I had a buddy with a 2004 with a 6 inch TC lift and 37s and in 26K miles his ball joints failed and steering pump went out. So, overall, while I like the looks of a lifted truck, there is a price to pay for wear and tear. Some of the more functional lifts, Lorenz, etc. seem to have excellent set-ups which probably help the ride. But still, i would imagine things are going to fail at an accelerated rate. The steering pumps aren't made to swing big tires, the ball joints take extra stress, the drivetrain angles are more extreme. Pay to play, or look good in my case... But again, just my opinion...

Contact Sean Lorenz @www.lorenzindustries or Sage Carli @ www.the carlisuspension.com. Their systems as well as Kore raise the front 2-3" and the rear 1". Spring travel is within Dodge parameters and will preserve your factory components. Body roll will be diminished while increasing spring travel.

I have a KORE system and love it. I am running 315's with no rubbing. I can haul butt over frost heaves and it just soaks it up.

Not sure where you are at in AK but shoot me a PM if you are around the Wasilla area and I will take you for a spin in my ride. It is nice to try other peoples stuff out before you buy.

I have had it on for 20,000 and NO front end problems whatsoever, still running stock tie rods and ball joints.

JCrockett... id love to see your truck. . i live in Anchorage. . 907-223-4522 Josh

I've come up with a game plan... I'm reinstalling my stock lower control arms. From all the websites ive seen Kore and Lorenz use stock control arms and there lift height is the same as my skyjacker. . Just bought new shocks; Bilstein 5100's all the way around. . I'm having alasak spring remove my add-a-leaf and re-arch my stock springs to maintain ride height. . hopefully that will make things lots better

What he said plus Don Thuren.

i replaced the bushings to get me by. . i couldn't believe how worn-out they were. . now my truck feels like the axle is connected to the frame again. .

Alpha, what exactly wore out on the TC lift... ... it's just blocks, spacers and brackets? I did the 6" TC kit, but simply replaced the spacers with 6" springs and mine is holding up fine.

I am looking to go six inches on my mega cab anyone have any good recommendations i like superlift had past experience with them never any issues. I am looking for the best all around lift dont want to go offroading. I also wondering does the double shock in the front really worth the extra money? And last but not least looking at running 37x13. 5xR22 toyo mud tires anyone like are dislike these tires? what kind of mileage could i expect out of the tire? Thanks for any help id like to hear from people with 6in lift only thanx again

p. s not interesed in TC lift

I'm thinking of going with the carli suspension starter kit. Says it raises the front 2. 75" and the rear a 1". Is that the system you have Glock, and if so do you have any pics of your truck with the lift in it? Anybody else have the system I'm talking about, curious of your opinions on it, and would like to see some pics of trucks with that amount of lift, just tio get an idea as to what I would be looking at. Thanks

Starter leveling kits.

Carli's starter system is a bargain, well engineered and adequate for most owners. Sean Lorenz has a similarly priced system and great customer service. I would go with the extended links as my stock links w/lowering blocks were bent in no time.
