OK, I am about done with the stock suspension. Especially since we have so much potential here.

1) I want to run a tire no larger than 35"

2) I almost never tow, and it is probably never gong to be over 10K

3) I want better off-raod capability with more wheel travel

4) I want the minimum lift (or no lift at all) possible.

Any tire recommendations as well?

Hohn, I'm going through the same decisions right now. I'm planning on putting on 35x12. 50x16 interco Trxus mt's here soon. I currently have the 2 1/2" springs under the front, which give me enough height, but the axle is too far back to make me comfortable with rubbing issues. So, I'm looking at making the control arms longer to move the axle forward to fit the tires under it. The T-Rex stuff looks nice, but it's way out of my price range currently. So what I'm planning on doing is building the control arms like the skyjacker double flex ones. That way they are adjustable and will allow more flex in the front end, rather than the stiff ride it has now.

Morph.

I recently replaced my OE length control arms with DT's 1/2" forward ones. I had minor rubbing on the inner plastic wheel well at full turn when I added M/T Challenger wheels. These did the trick. Once in a great while the tire will slighly contact the closest part of the grey front bumper facia on a full turn like pulling into a tight space.

LT 305/85R16 Denman Coyotes ( 36" tall & 10" wide) w/ just 2" leveling springs.

T Rex said in the Paris Dakar thread they had verified fit back to '99 and were working to verify fit and tuning back to '94:)

3499. 00 is only about the same $$ as a Comp, DD3s, PDR HX40, SB clutch, Scotty air system and 4" exhaust. :D

the T rex is pretty much what I am looking for-- but I am experiencing a temporary money shortage.

I also want to take the edge off the back suspension harshness, since I want to keep the load ability. How about the velvet-ride shackles?

What about the revolver shackles?

I am considering the Bilstein 5150s or 7100 until I can save up for the t-rex... .

Hohn,

I have not heard too much on the Velvet Shakles. Speaking from experience if you put Rancho RSX 9000 adjustable shock on the rear and try an initial setting or 1 or 2 the ride will be VERY soft.

So much to consider now...

Those T-Rex guys have blown everything and everybody else in the Ram suspension business away, but it is quite an investment. I'm riding on the D25 levelling coils and Bilstein 5100s and am happy with the ride compared to stock. I was considering new arms and a double shock set-up, but I think I'll put that money away for now and contemplate the T-Rex system.

I believe several members are running 35s with just the D25 coils, new shocks and a new trac bar. You don't even have to do the trac bar, but the axle will be off-center to the driver side. The best thing to do to get rid of the rear axle harshness is have a new set of leaf springs made that eliminate the 5" lift block that the stock spings sit on. Probably $600 to $800 for a quality set. Otherwise, and I'm not kidding, put 300 lbs of something back there over the rear axle and it'll tame the ride some.

I just got Toyo M-55s in the 255/85 size. They were delivered yesterday and I won't be able to get them mounted 'til next week, but they look sweet. First tire I've ever seen that splits the difference between a BFG A/T and M/T. Fairly lugged, but the lugs are close enough together that you wouldn't call it a true M/T. I was going on reports of long tread life... we'll see. Good luck.
