2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Suspension Upgrade

Is there anyone out there that has experience with upgrading their suspension? I have a stock 02 QC and am looking at upgrading shocks. I would like to keep the stock height, maybe just looking for a little bit better ride. Maybe a front leveling kit.



What have your experiences been?



Any product that's better than the other?



Any other suggestions?

I do reccomend the Skyjacker D25 leveling coils, they were the first mod I did on my heap, love 'em. I also really like the quad shock mounts I have, way better ride/handling than the factory set-up.



Shocks..... thats nearly as bad as askin which oil one uses, I'm not touchin that one, but I'm pleased with the ones I use.

I guess what I should of asked if anyone sees a big difference between the stock shocks and aftermarket (Rancho, Skyjacker, etc. ).

I did notice a difference in shocks, but my factory shocks were toast , so that really doesn't count does it. LOL



I use 4 skyjacker hydo shocks on the front, they are inexpensive, have a lifetime warrenty, and have been holding up to abuse for nearly 3 years, cept for the paint chips.

No, mine are stock hieght, without issue.

I'll send you the stock shocks from my '00 QC 2500 4wd if you pay for shipping - I just want them out of my garage. The shocks have ~2000 miles on them. I replaced them with the Edelbrock IAS shocks that were on my '96 2500 CC 4wd 360 V8/Auto.

I installed Bilstiens and really like them. However, I will be replacing them with the T Rex Engineering kit as soon as I get my bumpers and winches in place. Alot of bucks, but if you want to give a dance, you gotta pay the band.

I have looked at the T-Rex suspension and really like them. Like you said, a lot of bucks though. I would like to go that route after I BOMB it.

I too have replaced my suspension with the T-rex system. Even though I have a heavy expedition type camper on my chassie cab, what a difference this system makes, especially off road. Just compare the shocks, the Kings or the Fox shocks are much more shock than the small light weight OEMs or even the common aftermarket replacement shocks and they are tunable and rebuildable. Only drawback is the cost. I think they are ten times the shock value for about 6 times the price. If you use your truck heavily off road and keep it for a long time, then they is really a bargain! The T-rex system doesn't raise the truck much and can act as just a levleling kit with stock height in the rear.

Gbaines--you carry a camper with the T-Rex suspension. I carry a BigFoot with Ricksons and I need a better suspension for the heavy tires. I did not think the T-Rex would let you carry heavy. Talk to me about that! We want to know. geusterman

Kent can set up the T rex system for whatever weight you need, my camper is about 3000 lbs and the truck sits a bit higher than with the factory setup and rides quite a bit better loaded Kent explained his experiences with the 19. 5s in this thread: Racing Suspension GBaines has a very informative post a page or so after the post I linked to.

Thanks Jrob. Wheel hop on washboards with the camper (4000lbs) tears the truck apart. Putting the Rickson/Michelins on the 04. 5 and expect wheel bounce to be worse. I really want to understand this so appreciate your excellent response. geusterman
