My truck has 35" tires on it and I want to put 33" tires on it. I want to go through and put a better suspension in it. I'm having troubles finding some though. I want minimal lift but still front level with back. I know that this is vague but anything will help a lot.

Thanks,

Bryce

KORE and Carli are two of the best. There're one or two others that are discussed on here often, but the names escape me. I had the bottom level KORE on my 97 and loved it. They are truly a performance suspension, as opposed to "Bling lift". Their top notch racing suspensions are art! The Pace suspension from KORE (they call it something else now) lifted the truck about 2" and leveled it. The minipacks on the rear dramatically improved the ride on washboard and highway without hurting the towing capacity.

What about the Lorenz systems? I've read a bit about them and liked what I saw. What about air ride? Thanks for the help guys. Oh Bob any word on the AFE intake for 12 valvers?

Sean hasn't gotten into the 2nd gens... ... ... .

AFE still has my 12 valve manifold sample to play with ;)

They are hustling to get the last minute stuff ready for the SEMA show right now. Bladerunner intercooler???

Here is a shot of my air ride on the 05

#ad

That was taken off roading on a Jeep trail in the mountains articulating pretty good

Bob

Yeah I just did a quick overview of the Lorenz site and saw all the products they've done and kits looks pretty cool, maybe I can get my dad to put it on his truck.

If you don't mind me asking. . where'd you get your air-ride system from and how is the ride on road? I take my truck off roading maybe once a month and it's to just go rolling over some hills and play in some mud, so I'm more worried about the ride around town. I'm hoping the 33"s will help with this.

The Air bags(long travel) are from Carli Suspension Like all the other suspension on my truck. It is amazing how I can Haul but through the whoops and then throw a few pounds of air in it to tow the trailer home.

I have driven most the different systems from Carli and have been very impressed with them all for their intended purposes. I am going to be installing their full leaf packs, front coils and 7100 bilstein system on my 94 Oo.

Bob

Ps I have a set of drop blocks from a previous suspension system that I got rid of off the 05 if you need some

KCloward,

You can probably keep your 35's and still get a great ride. The new suspension products really make a big difference in how your truck performs. Obviously, everyone has their preference. We have a lot of extremely satisfied customers that use their trucks from hauling hay to hauling *****.

We're happy to help with any specific questions.

Bryce,

I went with the KORE Chase suspension and got it through Marek at DesertProven. From what I have read all three (Kore, Carli and Lorenz) offer a darn good ride. Kore tends to cost the most if you're on a budget. I went with Kore as I live on an island in Alaska with lousy roads, stuff has to be loaded on a ship to get here and takes forever. I wanted something that was bullet proof so I wouldn't have to worry. (No matter how big your rig, coming around a corner and finding a large mammal in your way tends to send you even more off road than you already were as moose and bear tend to get ticked off if the initial impact didn't do them in. Happened to a friend and cost him the entire passenger side stock suspension when he hit a tree stump, damn bears)

I also can vouch for Marek, he got me the stuff at a reasonable rate and it arrived in one piece, another difficult challenge for many of us nuts enough to live up here.

No matter which you go with, if it works like this Kore stuff, you'll love it. Hard to keep your foot off the floor board when your truck eats the ruts and washboards so well. Really ticks off the Subaru crowd though so carefull how fast you pass them.....

Thanks guys all the input is great. The reason why I want to go down to the 33s is the cheaper cost and less weight. It will be awhile however because I'm in between jobs but have a great lead in a machining/welding job where I'll be doing short run productions for everything as far as parts for the war in Iraq to parts for tractors. It should be a fun job and I'm really excited about it.

I'm leaning to the Carli suspension as long as I can find a setup with minimal lift but still level I'll be happy... well if it's still a good ride.

Bryce

We should have some more pics and video of our week-end at Glamis soon. We had Carli,Thuren, and Lorenze set-ups. We invited the others also but... ... ... ... .....

Bob

I never got the "invite", but it's pretty hard for us to get down south these days anyways. We're a lot further from the fun than many of you.

We were actually down in Baja last week. More long term testing of the products we carry and a couple of new products we're working on. It all worked really well.

There's nothing like taking an 8000 pound truck through a power slide at full throttle in the middle of the desert!!!! Our KORE suspension just soaks it up.

I'll also hijack this thread to point out that the Toyo's are still the tire of choice for all around hard use. We ran them at high and low pressures on and off road. They just take a beating and keep going. I even noticed that one of mine has a screw stuffed through it. It certainly explains why I had developed a slow leak over the last few weeks. Even with a screw through the tire and hard driving in Baja, they took us there an back with no flats.

We tried to get a set of the new Hankooks for the trip, but Hankook didn't seem to understand what we were trying to accomplish.

As I mentioned, everyone has their favorite suspension and I'm sure they all work pretty well. We're happy to help with any questions regarding your application.

I posted open invites on DTR,TDR,Cummins forum, and SCRR's. We had Carlos coming with his 3" kit,He told me Jason wanted to come also.

I have family outside of Bend,I know that would be a killer drive for you,but very scenic :)

Bob

I agree with the Toyo statement DP. That's why when I can afford everything I'm getting the 33" A/T Toyos. My friend has got them on his truck and I love the way it handles. If you were to compare my truck to my dads truck his feels like a sports car. Granted it is stock as can be and still has the original 265 Michelins on it.

I'll have to take a look at the Kore suspension and see if I like anything about it. Thanks for the help guys.

Bryce

Bryce, we put Toyo Open Country MT's on our rig after trying the BF Rugged Terrain and the Michellins and we love them! The guy mounting them had never mounted Toyo's before and couldn't believe that he had to remove all the weights from all four rims as the Toyo's didn't need them.

I can't speak for the ATs as I have not tried them but the MT's absolutely rock! The Michellins and BF both gave in to the standing water, ice and snow and allowed the high winds we get up here to push us around. These MTs just don't budge. They are however heavier than both the BFs and Mich's. I was a major Michellin fan until I tried these, Marek (DP) was right that they would make a huge difference.

One other problem with them, but it is a local issue. They cost a BOATLOAD of cash to get up here due to the weight and size. No Toyo dealers on this island!

travel

Hey Bob, what is the suspension travel on a stock 06 2500? ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... And i do believe a certian suspension campany with a retailer in sacramento would have had a shorter drive than me to get to glamis and yet i still made it:-laf:p:D:-laf:-laf

I've got the 35" M/T tires on my truck right now. I love they look of my truck but, I hate the steering and I need all the help I can get with fuel mileage (another reasong I'm going down to 33s) also the 33s are about $60 per tire and being in being in high school still it's hard to get a steady income. My main goal is just making the payment every month.

Most the 06's I see have 2-3" to the stops in front :-laf

Arron you took the long distance award for sure... ... ... ... ... ... .

You have also ridden in more nice trucks than 99 % of the population.

Bob

Wow, I didn't realize missing a trip to Glamis was such a sensitive subject. I dig Baja and I don't get much time off. So, given a choice, I'd still probably pick Baja over Glamis. Nothing personal, just my preference.
