Taco Bell + Diesel Fuel = OOPS!

chevy site forums off limits?

I was driving on the freeway today, in downtown Houston, and say a Suzuki Samuri with a Powered by Cat Diesel sticker on the side. I rolled the windows down and it sounded like a straight piped semi truck mext to me. It sounded pretty good. The Vehicle looked stock except for the raised height and fat tires.

How in the world did they shoehorn a Cat engine into that thing?

Probably a yellow Perkins like Mog said. 3304 Cat is way too big for a Samurai (424 cid-hate to guess the weight... ... betcha it's not far off of a 6BT-they are a 3306 with 2 cyl's shaved off).

it could be one of the skid steer or back hoe motors. . they are like 1. 5 liters 4 bangers that make 70'ish HP. . not sure if it is a true cat or perkins though. i remember reading and seeing pictures of a V6 deutz air cooled unit [big one ±10liters] stuffed between the fenders of a mid 80's bronco.

I dont know which motor it had. It was going about 70 mph. It was not air cooled. It had a straight exhaust, about a 3 1/2 inch out the back. It sounded like a large engine inside, turbocharged. Very cool.

I have a VW diesel in my Samurai. It's a real tight fit. I can't imagine shoving in anything larger. I may put a CAT sticker on mine too. Good idea!
