swap automatic for NV4500 in 91?

I have been posting on the 1st generation forum about this and gotten some excellent help. I have been told that (by people on here, and my local shop Scheid Diesel) that it would not be a problem to install a getrag from a similiar truck, needing all the clutch cables, etc. My question however is, is it possible to install a newer NV4500 in to my 1991 w250? How much of a problem would it be if its harder than installing a getrag?



I dont really hear anything good about the rag so I want something better.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The auto in my truck now is only a 3 speed, the fact of not having overdrive and I also just love to shift is the reason for my swapping. I'm sure your probably not interested but if you are just let me know. It was rebuilt at around 80000 miles because of some kind of manufacturers defect that the previous owner wanted fixed. This is what he told me anyways and he goes to my church and bought it new. The transmission seems to be in good shape.
