I have a 01 auto with the HY-35 and hear how this unit is not the best. Would there be any benifit to installing a stock HX-35?

Also the Exhaust housing on the HY-35 is a 9cm? What is the housing on the HX-35?

Performance characteristics of the stock HY and HX are similar. The HY is designed to spool a little faster for the automatics than the HX hence the 9cm housing. Both peak performance at about 28-30 PSI. The PDR modified HX35 is suppose to be a great replacement for the HY for HP mods to about 350 HP. Anything more should conside on of the other bigger turbos: HX40, B1, and any others thsat size.

HX35s are available in 12cm stock but range 12-16 as far as I know. There's probably bigger.

So with the stock HX-35, which exhuast housing have the wastegates?

On the PDR HX-35, He sells the Compressor side and center cartradge as an assemble and the exhaust housing seperate. Is there any mods to the exhaust housings or could you bolt the PDR HX-35 to a stock 12 cm housing?

my auto 02 got an PDRhx35

I have a 02 with an auto which had an hy35. I have a turbo back 4" exaust and in box K&N. On 12-30-02 I put the PDR hx 35 on. I noticed more low end and the the turbo cools quicker at idle. I also have seen about 150-200 degrees cooler EGT's. I have not seen any change in fuel mileage yet. I feel that the PDR Hx spools up quicker than the stock HY. also the PDR hx is noisier more whiiissshhh. over all I am HAPPY... ...

When one of my HY35 bearings took a dump at 174,000 miles is when I started bombing the truck... ... up until that point the truck had NEVER hiccuped once... ... standard maint until then. I replaced it with a PDR HX40 and have not looked back since.

Though it was somewhat of a DOG around town until I added a fuel box :D

Now its a rip snorter with some DD2's in route to kick it up a little more... ... . My -only- regret is that I didnt start bombing about 182,000 miles ago LOL

HX35 12CM

I have the perfect setup for you. I have an hx35 with the banks 4-inch elbow and banks 4-inch down pipe for sell. The turbo has 10,000 miles on it and the elbow has about 10 to 15 miles on it. I need to get $650. 00 out of it all. I need to step up to an hx40. I put a stock hx35 on my friends 01 truck and the temps went down around 125 max, which is towing not unloaded and that was just going to a stock hx35 from a stock hy35. He is getting the banks elbow and down pipe, it should help?? It helped me but not enough though. Any way you go you need to step up to an hx35. Good luck!!

If your planning on staying fairly stock, but feel the itch that you HAVE TO DO SOMETHING, then a Piers HX35 is the best step IMO. If you are not going to do anything to it but and EZ, then I say stick with the HY, it's a nice turbo. I did the swap from a HY to an HX-12cm, and it was more work then it was worth. It was nice to be able to pull away from justin all 3 times we raced in Munice (identical trucks) on the top end because of the boost. :D :D :D

HY to PDR HX

In regards to my last post, I put a 12cm PDR HX 35. As far as the time to swap- no problem I think it took an hour to do. I think the swap was definately worth it. More power over all and I think the more low end feel is from the turbo spooling faster than the HY. I have definately seen a DECREASE in EGT's and the turbo cools faster at idle. just to repeat myself it is definately noisier... .
