Hello all,

I have an 02' D80/3:55/lsd(power lok IIRC) and I want to go to lower gears.

Is anybody interested in a swap?

I live in Yuba City, Ca. it is located about 40 miles north of Sacramento.

Your post says you have an 02 axle, but your signature says an early 2001 (Jan 2000). That would make it a 2000 truck. That is very important because, if your looking for a srw Dana 80 in 4. 10 and disk brakes, I don't believe it will happen. I have done many searches for myself. I can find every combination but the one I would like. If you want drums, drw, or dana 70 with 4. 10s they made thousands of them. I know dodge always seems to have exceptions though. Good luck.

JMcCOY,

I had replaced the origional D70 open carrier drum brake 3. 55 rear end with an 02 D80 LSD disk brake 3. 55. Now I am looking to upgrade to lower gears.

Using a gear calculator, for the tire size that I am running (305/70/16) I would need a 3. 68 gear to match stock. I am thinking about 4. 30 gears but would like to try the 4. 10 first.

I'm looking to do the same thing. Unfortunately I don't believe Dana made that combo in 4. 10 gears. That is why i'm goimg to purchase a srw disk brake Dana 80 with 3. 55s and swap out the gears. With your tire size, I wouldn't go lower than 4. 10 gears unless you tow crazy heavy. I will probably go to 4. 30's but I have 35" tires and will probably go to 37"s. Let us know what you decide to do and how it works out.

There were lots of 2001. 5 and 2002 Ram 2500s and 3500s (DRW) with four wheel disc brakes and 3. 54 or 4. 10 limited slip gears. Standard ratio was 3. 54 and the 4. 10 was optional. There were probably fewer trucks with OEM 4. 10 gears but there must have been thousands of them sold.

Am I missing something that would make the desired axle relatively easy to find?

HBarlow,

I can find plenty of the D80 srw lsd 4. 10 but the wrecking yards think they are gold and are asking $1500-$2000 for them. If I had that kind of money I would drive to West Coast Diff and have an ARB air locker and 4. 30 gears installed. I would just like to swap someone and have no money exchanged.

JMcCoy,

when I am due for tires I will go to 17" rimes with 35-37" tires. That is why I am thinking about 4. 30's

4. 30s would probably be the hot ticket then. It would be nice to give the 4. 10s a try before swapping out gears in both axles, just to find out we would have been happy with 4. 10s. It would save a lot of $$$.

Lets take a pole. If any readers here have a DANA 80, SINGLE REAR WHEEL, FACTORY 4. 10 gears, and DISK BRAKES?

All my searches and calling of many axle yards across the country all end with negative results. I truly hope I'm wrong.

Try using Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market That is where I found my rear axel.

Looking tonight I found this,
