V-12 anyone?

nothing new

I have been thinking of different ideas to make my truck stand out and i think that a c' in there will do it. I talked to the local Cummins dealership and they said that it might be possible to change the flywheel housing from one to the other, does anybody know for sure? I am just trying to do some homework on this since I am still well under warranty. The reason that I say that it is possible is that some farm tractors use both motors in the same frame so the b series flywheel housing could conceivably be installed on a C series and allow us to use our current trannies. People have squeezed more out of their b' than the stock c' so the transmission could conceivably hold up for a while? Or am I out of my mind?

A "C" is 550 lbs heavier and long enough that you'd be able to use the 2 rear rocker covers to keep your coffee warm. W/O doing MAJOR body and suspension reconstruction, it wont be possible. If you could do it, it would be great for towing but you'll never get much H. P. out of one.

The C is not 550 lbs heavier... More like 250-300. Length, width, and height are all only an inch or two bigger than the B. The C has lots of advantages too, like the fact it is a sleeved motor. Plus, the power potential out of a C is pretty good. Stock ratings are up to 350/1050 on a mechanically-injected engine. It's not hard to get them into the 500/1500 range... Injectors, pump, and a bit of tweaking can get it there real easy. No

I've worked on a lot of C's before, and they are basically just a big B, with some of the benefits of a bigger on-highway engine.

Evan - I have heard of a 450hp CPL version of a 6CT.....

The dimensions are all within inches of the B - the weight addition is what scared me off the most.

450? Wow... Must be for an off-highway application or something like that...

As for the weight, its not much more than adding a snowplow off the front of the rig. :D

My truck already has the famous 'rake'..... and the 141# front bumper doesn't help matters very much.

I'll say this - if the B ever blows up - a C will be installed in its place. I could buy a 450hp C-series for less than a lot of B's I have seen.

Matt

Stirring the fire again. Newsbreak... . the marine "C" is now rated at a maximum of 480HP with 500 in the works (rumor). I have seen a couple of the 480's go out the door, but remember, these ratings are not ment for road use or constant duty cycle, pleasure craft only. Sorry, just had to say that :D Anyhow, don't forget, liners or not you still have the aluminum slugs that, well you know, melt... . sometimes :)

Have fun,

Russell

Using their Power Kit (and maybe some other goodies, don't know for sure), TST is claiming up to 525hp and 1800 ft/lb of torque on a C series.
