I'm just curiouse... . can a guy fit a bigger engine into one of these things? You always hear of gas truckers puting in bigger engines like 429's, 560's etc. , but I've never heard of anyone putting a bigger cummins in. There must be a reason why I have never heard of it... but why?

I'm just assuming they won't fit or something.

One more thing, what is the grade scale on these first gens? I've only heard of LE, are there any other models?

CB Parker-

THe reason gasser guys go with bigger engines is due to the set air-fuel ratio they HAVE to have for it to run. So to do that, you go with bigger CID, at least when naturally aspirated. Since we have turbo diesels, we just add fuel and air, smoothing the flow here and there. We dont have to worry about preignition, getting the air-fuel ratio just right, spark knock, etc. If the air fuel ratio is a little off, we just run hotter and/ or smoke a little more. Our engines have been proven reliabe to over 550rwhp, so we really dont need to add any more weight to the stressed front suspension. It might only go 600K if you get up to that level, instead of the standard million. ;)

If you search through the conversion section there is a guy that put a 8. 3 L C-series Cummins into his Ford. It's a sweet looking truck. One of the problems with larger diesels is weight.
