I am thinking about swapping out my 3. 54's for 4. 10's; I don't like the 3. 54's on my 24v.

Is there any thing different about the Dana 60 and 70 for the Dodge as compared to other 60 and 70's use in other applications?

I guess what I am trying to ask is when I order them from a parts place will any Dana 60 and 70 work or do I need to be specific as to their application?

Breck,

Unless you are towing really heavy, I would not go with the 4:10's... Especially if you like to cruise fast. . above 70 mph on the highway. My dad converted to 3. 73 's they rock! He paid a shop to do this, it was about 600 bucks total...

Good luck,

Bill

To go from 3. 54 to 4. 11 I think you have to swap the carrier assemblies too. There are a few folks on this board that would probably swap diffs with you, lots cheaper.

Thanks guys,

I would like to run 285 without it falling on its "face" any worse then it already does. Above 2K it pulls more like my old 12V did at 1500.

Any takers on the swap let me know?:)

Breck,

with those mods of yours, you should have plenty of torque... What are you about 325 hp and 600 - 700 lbs of torque?

... and an auto? $600 minimum (it takes $120 worth of good synthetic gear lube) might consider a torque converter? and transgo kit?

If you were closer to Phoenix, Az; I would swap with you. I want cruising economy. not concerned with stump pulling power.

Best bet is to change out the whole axle assembly. By far easier. don't have to set up the diff's... :(

You do have to swap carriers, and yes it does become pricey. I'd swap my 4:10's to a 3:54 tomorrow- but seeing as how I only have a 2wd... . :p

Check the classifieds often, gear swap candidates come up from time to time.

I would love to swap to the 3. 54's myself. I've priced the Dana gears and the new carrier for the rear at about 750. Apparently the 80 rear goes from 3. 73 and lower, 4. 10 and higher.
