Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) swapping ring and pinion

0k all, quick question.

I have a 97 1 ton dually 2x4. with 4:10 gears. I just bought 3:54 gears but they came out of a 4x4, the guy i bought them from said that he had the dana 80 (which i have also). My question is will the rear end ring and pinion work in mine? even though they originally came from a 4x4?. If they dont does anyone want them? I got a really good deal so i dont feel like i got reamed. if they dont work i will just resell them and can easily make my money back on them. but if anyone can tell me if they will work or not it would be greatly appreciated

Sorry, they won't work.

The 3. 54 and 4. 10 use different carriers. If you wanted to add a locker, buy the locker for the 3. 54 gears and it will bolt in (with correct gear set up).



If traction isn't an issue, I have an open 3. 54 carrier for sale in the classifieds...
