I'd like some input from others who have replaced their sway bar and control arm bushings. My steering box has some play and leaks, so I'm going in to replace the seal soon and add the DSS(ordering tomorrow). I'd like to get a set of polyurethane bushings to put in at the same time. I've seen Energy suspensions site, they list several different sizes of track bar. What have y'all used, and do you have any prices/pn's?

Thanks Oo.

I was at a garage session a few years ago and was going to change the tracbar bushings and swaybar bushings while installing my 2" front lift kit. Well, I couldn't get the bushings out of the tracbar and they didn't look too bad so I left the stockers in. The tracbar kit is still riding around behind my seat.

The kits I have are Energy Suspension. The sway bar went on OK but the bar has since slid off to one side. I plan on installing a couple clamp collars to keep that from happening again.

I've found two dimensions- 30mm and 32mm. Are the 30's for the 1/2 ton and the 32's for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks? I don't have a metric caliper. How do I tell what I have?

Extreme1, your truck is similar to mine, but more of where I want to go :) I'm totally stock now-but would like to get a little more power... and am considering going with the GB transmission. How many miles do you have on it?

Willys,

One millimeter is nominally . 040 (forty thousands) of an inch. One inch is 25. 4 millimeters. So, the difference between 30 and 32 MM is around 80 thousands of an inch. HTH

Just for info, I attempted to use the DSS with my poly bushing set and they would not work together. Because the DSS uses the bushing bolts, the new bushing pushed the track bar further from the frame which in turn caused it to hit the DSS bracket. Kind of hard to explain. It was the bushing itself that caused the problem not the bracket. If it were the bracket I could have used the stock brackets with the new bushing. I was able to use the end links from energy. Mine sway was the 32mm kit. Good luck.

So the bushings came with new mounts and the combination of these mounts and thicker bushings interfered with the DSS? Am I getting that right? I think my end links look ok, its mostly the frame mounted bushing under the p-steering box. I can poke it with my finger and it feels and acts like a sponge.

This might help show what I think you mean... if the bushing can be machined/cut will it then fit? Let me know if I'm poking in the wrong direction here... . :)

Yep your in the right area there. The bushing in that area is much thicker and pushes the bar into the brace where your blue bearing carrier is. I suppose you could cut it down some but then you would also have to cut and bend the bracket it comes with. It has been awhile since I tried this and I know there was some reasons why I didn't try that. If I remember correctly the bushing would not work with the stock brackets. I still have them in the garage I'll get them out tom. and refresh my memory.
