I have noticed an almost sweet smell from the exhaust of my truck. I have a 95 2500 that has the normal diesel exhaust smell. My 04. 5 has a sweet smell to it. Fuel mileage is poor just like most 04. 5s. I had the TSB done several months ago with no major improvement. Is the smell normal?

Thanks,

Jeff

You are smelling the efects of the catilitic converter. Mine fell off and now it smells just like a real diesel. Fuel milage is going to take a timeing box and camshaft change to bring it back to what we were used to.

My so called diesel no way smells like my 04 HO did. . Its more like a really bad FART. . Don't like it at all. Today, i walked past my Dodge and started up my 400k + Old Chevy truck and drove it to the store. Ran like a million and didnt blow white smoke for the first mile. . Whats wrong with this picture. . I forgot to add. I get 15 mpg in town on regular gas. That is 40 cents less than the price of diesel! Im beginning to enjoy my old Chevy more and more every day. . I think Ill keep the Dodge to pull the travel trailer and go to Church. As for the rest of the time, Im really liking my good old trust worthy Chevy! Its never made me walk yet. I cant say that for my 4 month old Dodge!
