I have heard and seen several discussions about honed injectors for our beloved 3rd gen engines.



Is there a point where a honed injector can take away from power?

Is this the same for EDM for this common rail engine?



Enquiring minds would like to know!
 
I have ran both.

Diesel Dynamics Stage 3's

EDM'S +/- 100HP



The edm's smoke a lot more than the dd3's. But they both felt about the same in power. EGT'S were about the same. Don't think this really answers your questions but it may help.

Thats kinda surprising that the edm's smoked more and wern't any better on the egt's. Don M makes the edm's sound like they are Gods gift to us :rolleyes:
 
They were not Don's EDM's. I can not say that the EDM's I was running were any different than what Don offers. He does claim to do a few things with hole size, angle, number.

Sorry, I did not mean to imply they were Don M's. I know JR and a few others that have had edm's out for the 3rd gens for a while but what i meant was the way Don talks about edm's, like honed injectors are way inferior. I know not all EDM's are created equal, but I have always been skeptical of the amazing claims some people make about them. I am just gonna stick with some honed injectors and call it a day. They are good enough.

No apology needed. I know there are some Don M loyalist on here that wouild scream if someone were to talk bad about his product and I didn't want to be in the middle of that.

There are quite a few EDM injectors out there and certainly not all are created equal. I'm pretty certain Don starts with a blank tip where as many other just rework the OEM tips. FWIW - I am not a DonM loyalist :)
