Hard 2 get 2??? Just undo the screw by the bag hook and pull the dash surrond out. The lighter wires are on a connector so should be REAL easy. At least mine was. Dont think the Laramie is that much off the SLT/ST - all should use the same dash.....
Just getting into this truck. Saw the dash wrap removal w/ screw by bag hook on a cb power thread after I posed question, will prob go that route, but will check out the blue wire on column bundle too. Thanks!
I just did this the other day on my '03 Laramie. It's real easy. HOWEVER - do yourself a favor and remove the ashtray (it just pops out - open the ash tray and pry the top flange gently with a screwdriver) and open the cupholder before removing the center dash panel. Otherwise, as you're monkeying with the electrical connectors on the back of the panel, the metal spring clips will be gouging the face of the ashtray and cupholder (this is on an automatic, BTW).
For a source of +12V constant power (which I needed/wanted for my airhorn activation switch ), the accessory outlet wiring is also easy to get to with the ashtray removed. These are both fused 20A circuits, so there's plenty there to drive a lighted switch and a relay.
