Okay,I've gotta ask the question... .
Are you more interseted in drag racing(aka stoplite racing) or constant trailer towing?
If you want the fastest stoplite-to-stoplite truck, stick with the 5spd. If your constantly towing, then get a 6spd.
Reason I say this... I had a '99 ETC 5spd,and traded it for a '00 ETC 6spd. Both identical trucks, the 5spd is much faster with it's odd wide gear ratios, compared to the smaller gear ratios of the 6spd. I really wanted 6spd too,and now that I have it,I'm a little dissapointed in the stoplite-to-stoplite aspect. But for cruising and hillclimbing,I love it.
I have DD stage II injectors in the truck and also have a 10 level PM3 (standard version) sitting on the kitchen table.
More than enough power. As soon as I get a new clutch in (early next month),I'll let you know what it is.
