Here I am

Switching to Ford

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

For those that spend time on the Powerstroke/ Duramax sites...

Do 6.0s make water???

Most people own one truck and know of other people who own trucks so it gives them a bigger range. I know some are bull and ALL trucks have problems. I have had my share of problems with my Dodge and days in being serviced not working. Even if I buy a Ford and have a problem I won't be buying the same thing and really kicking myself in the head.

Your totaly correct! SO I guess I'll say READ THEDIESELSTOP. COM forum and read about the DOZENS of BUDDYS that most be posting about Ford 6. 0s on it. Reading about Dodge and G. M horror storys is like watching Frankinstein on late night t. v. Reading the Ford Forums is like going to the Horror Film Festival and seeing the entire line up of FREDDIE KRUEGER films at one sitting. :--)

One thing about internet forums like this is that anyone can say anything they want to make their case for or against anything. This often makes it difficult to separate facts from BS.

However, one thing I have definitely noticed on all of the forums I read is that any story that starts off with "my buddy owns" or "a friend own's brand X, Y or Z", is just about always bs.

If you don't believe me, go to the Ford or GM forums and you can read the EXACT same stories about Dodges and all the horror stories about them. And it always starts the same way "my buddy owns... . "

That's why I completely disregard posts like that. Not that some my be true but that most are not.

And its usually pretty easy to tell which is which.

I assume that this post is aimed at me. While you make a definite point, all you can do is judge the poster. After reading most of the posts on this site for several years, I have a pretty good idea of whose opinions to listen to and whose to ignore. Believe what you will, but the events in my preceding post are real. My buddies name is Bill Feist and he owns a fire protection company with a small fleet of (all) Fords; one '99 7. 3, one '03 6. 0 and four '04 6. 0 PSD's as well as a bunch of F-150's. PM me and I'll give you his phone number and you can ask him yourself.

I also own six trucks currently, one GM Diesel, two Dodge diesels, and three Ford gassers. I used to have a '96 PSD and an '01 PSD and I do believe that Ford makes a good truck. I also believe that the Ford makes an inferior diesel to the Cummins. Although your post didn't quite come out and call me a liar, be careful not to discount peoples' information just because it isn't what you want to hear.

It's funny how you get to know people's personality and general reliability after hanging out here a long time. :)

Well after reading that last JD Powers 2004 Vehicle Dependability Study, I'd have to applaud your decision. Ford makes a good truck, but the 6. 0 has been a dismal failure the likes of which there is simply no excuse for in this day and age. I certainly wouldn't buy into the contention that "all the bugs are fixed in '05" mantra without at least a couple of years to clear thier severly damaged reputation.

Cummins = 41% LESS problems than the equivalent gas powered truck

6. 0 PSD = 430% MORE problems than the equivalent gas powered truck

Those numbers are obscene!

Good luck with whatever you end up with.

Dave

Do you have a link to this report?

Nevermind, that link doesn't seem to work. There was a ... after the last bit, so I wonder if I don't have the complete link. I did print a copy, If you PM me a fax number, I'll fax it to you.

Sorry,

Dave
