12 months and your complaining about them. Try running Piaa Super Whites. Out of 10 bulbs 8 didn't make it to 6 months. Pretty good for a 40 dollar bulb. #@$%! #@$%!

I put the silverstars in my truck and I probably won't bother replacing them when they burn out. I like them due to the whiter light but I still over drive my headlights at 80km/h(50m. p. h. ). I complained to the dealer and they checked it out and they are fine. I had a 98 dodge 1/2 ton and I thought those lights were bad! I've simply got to say Dodge has the worst headlight on the market. I've driven all brands (including toyota) and these are the worst. Sorry had to vent Whoooo.

over drive your headlights at 50MPH? ... either my Quad Sport Headlights in my Y2K are a world better than what you have or I simply don't understand. I don't feel that at any speed I have driven at in my truck that I am over driving my headlights.

I cruise along at night at speeds of 75MPH (of course only in areas where the speed limit is 70MPH) :D... on a regular basis and I couldn't be any happier with my headlights. I feel so spoiled by them now that every time I drive someone elses car or truck I want to ask them what's wrong with their headlights. :D

Anyway... 4th SS burned out today... that one went almost 16 months... I guess that's not too bad. Already had bought a replacement a month or so back anticipating the burn out.

I like the Silverstars; however just had one burn out yesterday after 13 months. Won't be spending the extra bucks to replace such a short lived product!

BTW: I usually get 3 to 4 years minimum on headlights.

I found this in the FAQ section at sylvanis.com

"What is the life expectancy of SilverStar?

The life expectancy of a SilverStar halogen light source is dependent on the driver’s use of the lights, which vary by season, time of day and number of miles driven. We estimate the SilverStar halogen lights to have a life span of up to one year under average driving conditions. "

Guess I shouldn't complain, but I will!

An updade on Silverstar longevity. My second Silverstar bulb burned out at about 15 months in very light use. Don't see any point in using this brand again.

I have run stock, the high output, silver stars, another brand I can not remember and the Piaa's. The best were the the Piaa, they gave the best light pattern and improved night vision. That said, the best improvement you can make to the Dodge truck is to install the wiring harness that Summit racing sells for our 9004 lights. It all but completely removes the load from the factory switch, and feeds each side of the trucks lights with a full 12V straight from the battery. I am not sure, but it alone with the stock low power lamps would most likely be enough.

I installed the Silver Stars last March. I got them at Fred Meyers on clearance sale for about $10 each. I installed one, closed the doors and hit the lights. I want to say the SS is brighter, and maybe it is, but it is whiter than the stock bulb. Things in the path of the SS appeared to be brighter and clearer. The stock light cast a yellowish tint on things in its path. Experiment over, and I installed the other SS. I like them, but think the sport light conversion is going to happen soon; with Silver Stars of course. :D

If they just made a silver star for the stock 2nd gen foglights.

I can tell a big difference on a dark night where the headlight beams end and the fogs begin.
