I just bought a 99 2500, I love it. It is completely stock but that will change soon. I would like to know what are some signs - symptoms of a lift pump going bad. :D

Welcome to TDR Low or no fuel pressure or flow. Another sign is change out the fuel filter and the lift pump wont fill the the filter canister :( You need to get a fuel presure guage installed. Genos garage has got pages of em in there catalog.

Steady low PSI, or total loss of flow/PSI. Seems lots of guys confuse fuel cavitation with LP failure, replace it with a new one, only to have the exact same jumping around of PSI issues as with the one replaced.

I had similar issues with mine, but was pretty sure it was cavitation rather than pump failure - so moved the LP to the frame rail close to my pusher pump. The difference in fuel flow and other contributing factors has to date totally eliminated my cavitation issue, and the OEM pump is still in use at 50K miles...

A way to make sure the LP is turning on if you don't have gauges is to just bump the starter and see if you can hear it running. The best way is to keep an eye on the FP.
