2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission synthetic diff lube

Those of you using synthetic diff lube, what are you paying for it where you live? Mobil 1 is about 7$ a quart here and amsoil is about 10$ a quart. The owner's manual says my Dana 80 takes 6. 8 pts. That doesn't seem like much for such a large diff. I can't imagine it only taking 3 - 4 quarts to fill it up.

You're not filling it up

You aren't actually filling it up, you are only filling about 1/4 to 1/3 of it.



I used Lubrication Engineers at about $7 a qt at the time. I've had in for almost two years

I just purchased a case of redline 85-140 for less than 7. 00 a quart from an on line dealer. I have used mobil 1 before and I don't think it gives adequate protection for our torque monsters. Redline is a great oil and I just replaced the mobil 1 in my transmission with the redline and the transmission really likes it. Mobil 1 was getting too thin with high heat long towing in 5th gear. I did see that Mobil 1 now has a 85-140 oil available but it was around 15. 00 a quart at checker auto parts.

I just changed it in my 99, with Royal Purple 85/140 and it took 3 and 1/4 quarts... ... ... ... ... . Paid $7. 85 at NAPA

I use Amsoil 75W-90 in both front & rear diffs. Forget what I paid for it last time I ordered... Been using that for the last ~2 years / 50K miles.

Im using amsoil dont recall the price but I know it alot cheaper than the 20. 00 per qt DC wanted.

I run the same thing Tom runs, AMSOIL Series 2000 75W-90 Gear Lube wholesale at $7. 20 a Qt. I use it in both pumpkins and the transmission.
