Differential Synthetic Oil tested after 90K miles of use!

This is from the front differential. Kinda forgot about it and let it go longer then I wanted. When I drained it looked very black and had lots of shinny gray stuff. Was expecting bad results!

This is on Amsoil Series 2000 75W90 with 93K on the oil, 212K on the axle.

Iron ... ..... 312

Silicon... ... 130

VicsC40... 112. 4

Soot/Solid... . Tr

TAN... ... ..... 2. 61

"Results indicate no corrective action requried!"

Even though the test can back OK I would rather have changed it at say 75K on the oil.

I had my rear differential fluid (Amsoil series 2000 75W-90) tested at 128,000 miles. 60,000 miles on the fluid. Here are the results.

Iron... ... . 169

Silicon... . 28

Vis@100C... 15. 2

Solids... ... trace

Tan... ... ... 2. 3

Have not tested the diff fluid since, but probably should.

Truck now has over 140,000, and fluid is still installed. When I pull the dip-stick, the oil is still a "blue" color.

Rear Diff samples wear out faster

My rear diff samples run into problems with TAN if I run it much beyond 50K. My last sample with 39K on the oil was:

Iron... ... 92

Silicon... 32

VicsC40. . 101. 5

TAN... 4. 2

It also still had a nice blue color and look good. I have previsously ran a sample to 57K and was flagged on TAN at 6. 7. I was hotshotting pulling trailers and the heat really works on the oil. But not the front as the TAN was pretty good considering how poor the fluid looked.

My rear diff at 212K is all stock. Had one rear seal changed at less the 20k, changed to synthetics after that and kept them fresh and NO seal problems. Rear end is very quite, LSD works like the day it was new. This is will lots of hard pulling and 5 sets of good rubber!
