Synthetic Rotella???

I walked into wal mart last night, and on the shelf i saw rotella synthetic oil, at 16 dollars a gallon. Just curious i never knew rotella made a synthetic oil. Is it worth using over regular oil? Its 5w 40.

If you live where it gets cold, it will help with cold start ups...

I use it in my work truck. I'll use non-synth CI4+ oil if I can find it, otherwise I run Rotella Synth

I used last winter in Iowa, I'll use it again next oil change (November 2007).

I like Mobil products, but are hard to find for diesel applications, at least in my neck of the woods.

I was at a PILOT truck stop in AZ and found a whole shelf of Rotella T CI4+ oil. Had lots of dust on it, but it was the old good stuff! I did not buy it when it was 14. 00 a gallon!!!

Even though they say it's made from petroleum stock, it's synthesized enough to give better cold start mileage (better mpg the first 10 miles or so), and higher turbo temp. protection (400 deg EGT shutdown without worry for turbo bearings).
