In theory the TC switch is meant for 2nd gear lockup, correct? But would it also work for a 3rd gear lockup? Or would a different circuit in the transmission need to be used? The reason I ask is my dad is haveing a hard time getting his TC to lock up under a heavy load going up a hill/mountain when downshifting from OD. Sometimes it doesnt even lock up... ... ... . And he will be pushing 2900 to 3000 RPM. No gaurges in the truck, can you imagine the heat his transmission is going through.....

A manual TC switch (ie. Mystery Switch), will lock up the TC in any gear, at anytime. This can be very bad if you're stopped. I would recommend that you give Bill K. a call at DTT.

I know it is or can be dangerous if forgetting to unlock before stopping... ... I forgot to mention this is while pulling his 34' Alpinelite 5v'er. He only has about 50k on the truck and I have talked to him about Bill and DTT but he doesn't want to spend that kind of money on the transmission. I wish he could have the chance to drive mine since I had it done.

Jason

A lockup switch only holds the TC locked once the TC is locked. Normally the TC on the 47RE will only lockup in 3rd and OD.
