2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission T-case question

I just bought a 2000 2500 4x4 about a week ago. anyways, i just started noticing a rattling sound when in drive or reverse, moving or not it makes it ever so faintly in park and neutral but once there is a little load on the Drive train it becomes pretty noticable. It sounds like a tin rattle if that makes any sense, like the exhaust or something. But when i went under the truck, it really sounds like its coming from the T-case. I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. Everything seems to operate fine. So just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this.

The last two days I have noticed the same sound in my truck. I had a similar problem in my old truck and it turn out to be a rear u-joint. I bought a new u-joint will try to install and let you know.

Check your skid plate under the t-case and the crossmember that it is fastened to. also it could be a broken weld on braces under cab floor

maybe the catalytic converter?
