Stop at the local Cummins shop where I picked up my Fleetguard filters and oil and some Fleetguard coolant.

I asked for a price on a water pump and thermostat.

Water pump - reman. $159 (less core charge)

T-stat - $79

I decided to pick them up at NAPA for a third of the cost. If they fail prematurely, I'll consider the more expensive versions, but for now, I'll keep my money

DONE. No big problems. I did however, stop at a Sear Hardware store and pick up one of those cable type hose clamp pliers. Boy did that make the job easier.

If I was you I would get some water pump lub to go in the radiator. Valvoline makes a good one. === good luck ===

Is there any real need to pull the hose off? It looks like there is enough length to just pull the t-stat housing off with hose attached.
