I have been having some problumes with my ac. It seems every time im driving threw town at about 30 or so it sounds like I thing the t-stat keeps clicking on and off. I guessing this means i need a new t-stat. Am I on track here? Or is it something else. Thanks Doug

You want ever here if a T-stat is opening or closing. This is probably your AC compressor cycling on and off. You just don't here it when you are driving on the highway. And it could be your fan clutch turning on and off but if it is the fan clutch you will here the fan roaring. The t-stat don't cause that much of a problem. If one don't open up you will see your temp rise.

Thanks. So the compresor might be back? I checked the charge in the ac and at idle every time i heard the click the presure would drop. I might as well just do with out the ac i know nothing about them other than they make cold air.

Ac

It is normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off... . You don't want it to run full time. Does your trucks AC feel cold in the cab?

Its a 99. I checked the charge and added a little coolent to the ac system the other day. The ac in the cab is not cool at all. The line to the radiator is cold that is the only thing i can find on the ac system that is cold. And the compresor is constantly going on and off like every 5 seconds or so.

Do you have a bug screen in the front of the radiator. You might have to clean the coolers out. Radiator, air to air, condensor. If they plug up with dirt and bugs the a/c want pull from high pressure to low pressure which is what makes cold air.
