Anybody ever heard of putting a T56 behind a CTD? They have a . 75 5th and . 50 6th gear and can handle 650 ft. lbs. Talk about overdrive... ... ...

Is that the Tremec transmission? If it is, it's just a little baby. The power and weight of the Dodge Cummins would destroy it.

it's a borg warner transmission... stronger than a tremec 3550 or TKO, but still a baby that I wouldn't DREAM of putting behind a Cummins!!!

Forrest, just noticed your "location" - brings to mind an old song: "My Maserati does one-eighty-five. They took my license and now I can't drive. "

Name that tune. :D

I've got a mansion... forget the price...

I've never been there, they tell me it's nice...

life's been good to me so far!!! :p

seriously though, I do live in hotels... and I make a LOT less money than a rock star... hence, my "location" :)

Even though it may be rated for 650. when you figure in the weight of the truck it has to push (6500-8000lbs) then the stress on the transmission basically multiply

i dont know all about the t56 being stronger than the tko. just take a look at bob hanlon at hanlonmotorsports.com. he is a n/a ford motor that goes nines in the . 25 with the tremec.

i also haaad one in my 91 gt 5. 4litre mustang(331 stroker) huffing alot off of the jug it NEVER struggled!

also if it would be going behind a non- bombed 2wd id say GO FOR IT!! i bet that thing would get unreal mileage!!! :--)

I thought they were rated for 650 foot pounds?

It's kinda hard to explain why a T56 rated at 650 ft lbs, will not work in the Cummins powered Dodge. That rating is for light weight vehicles w/light weight motors with intermittent use at the max rating. With the constant weight and power of the Cummins, plus the GCW of 20,000 lbs plus, the little guy will not stand a chance. The size alone v/s say, the NV5600 is unreal. Keep in mind the 360lbs that the NV5600 weighs and the oil capacity of same. If the T56 didn't break immediately, the heat of steady power and weight of the Cummins would fry the little gears and bearings.
