The BTSI is tested. If it passes you flash, if not you replace and flash.
Apparently you have been in for the recall, I haven't even got the recall stating the part is available, which it is now.

They expect so few vehicles to require the recall part that the dealer has to input the VIN in order to order a part once they've inspected it.
As of last night only 17-18 trucks were included in the recall.
2015-2016 are estimated 1st quarter 2018
2014-2015 are estimated 2nd quarter
2009-2013 are estimated 3rd quarter
Until then use the parking brake as outlined in the customer letter.
So Sag2 I assume you run the system test for the BTSI module you are just checking for wiring and module integraty from overheating .Assuming the cause is overheating of the module portion of the BTSI.Once approved for BTSI flash what does the software update do.Does it cut power to the module portion to prevent heating and damage to the pin bore of the BTSI.When you look at MotorCity Chrysler tech he is of the under standing that excessive heat is causing the pin bore to swell and not allowing the pin to move freely to engage and disengage.I agree that there will not be that many replaced, due to how many ride the brake in park. Also rumor has it warrenty for the water pump time is a 1 1/2 time. And just top-off of coolant lost...Hear also Business Connect truck's will be first in line for the T79. And also dealer's with trucks with open water pump recall's are still good to sell.
The water pumps are available to order,my old dealer ordered 40 this morning
This is getting to be pretty redundant here on these forums. I suppose things could have changed on the water pumps , and in reality were ordered this morning as you say. But in reality ,and all one has to do is READ there first recall notice , which it states that there are no parts available, and will be notified when parts do come available, no different then the track bar recall or the SCR recall.
That dealer could of ordered 400 water pumps, but until I get a second notice on this water pump recall telling me the PART is available ,those 40 or 400 have no bearing on the actual recall , or the redesigned pump if that is what we are going to get.
Lets put it this way ,HAVE YOU seen a final recall notice stating parts are available, I have not. Dealerships ordering parts means NOTHING, unless recall notices have been sent out stating that.

I think T79 is not the water pump recall? It is the automatic transmission safety recall where it allows someone to take out of park without depressing the brake pedal.
Or maybe I'm wrong?

Yes the dealers have the info. The second notices have started, they will be sent in waves. My apprentice just texted me a stack of 10 ros for stock units. If you don’t have an insider at a dealer the stock units will be getting done first.Got to have salable units to make the big bucks
Bob is correct, the T51 recall is out and there are two PN's available. As of this afternoon there are a total of 19,000 pumps in the depot system.
Have to think the letter is in the mail. After months of speculation, misinformation etc, we now have a solution.
Lol I heard anyone who complained about waiting for recalls will be notified in the last wave of mailings
