Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Tabbed, Just in Time

Helped my neighbor tab his KDP this morning. KDP was over half-ways out! The patient was a 1997 2500 4x4 5 spd. The warranty just expired and he refused to "do the fix" while on warranty.

HOW MANY MILES ON YOUR 97 I HAD ON 93000 ON MY 97 WAS OUT 35 THOUSANDTHS JUST TAPPED IT IN AND TABBED IT. THAT WAS AND EASY FIX. 2 HRS

Mileage about 165,000 KM=100,000 miles. Tapped the dowel pin back into the block, then tabbed. His gear housing (inside) was grungy. I ask "what oil". He said Mobile 1 synthetic in winter and Quaker State in summer.

that summer quaker state oil is what is killing his engine, why does he which brands for summer and winter? I use 15w40 year round!:{

He changes to synthetic for our COLD winter weather. It is a Canadian thing. He's too cheap to run synthetic all year.

Is the Mobil 1 an acceptable oil for a Diesel?

mobil 1 is a very good oil, I use pennzoil 15w40 because I have seen our 5. 9's run without oil for 30 miles and the only thing that went out was the turbo. I think the pennzoil is one of the best diesel oil's out there!
