I'm in the middle of rewiring the mud racing truck with only the needed wiring to make it run, other words, all wiring is being stripped out of the truck including the pcm since I won't have an electronically controlled transmission anymore. I have all of the wiring figured out but a tach, I'm planning on using the factory crank sensor and need to know if anyone knows the voltage that needs to be supplied to the + side of the sensor?

From what I've read, the Equis 8080 tach will work with the factory sensor. I need a shift light while racing and the other diesel tach solutions I've found don't fit the bill, I don't want to buy/rig another sensor setup if I don't have too.

+5VDC.

Page 8W-80-25 of my '98 SM. It's hard to find because Dodge called it an 'engine speed sensor' on the diesel.

Thanks, fest, now I need to just build the circuit to make it work. I think I've finally about got all the different components figured out for the race truck.

Just picked my engine up from PDP about a week ago, ordered the cummins to gm adapter and flex plate today, and ording the th400 next week for it.

Can't wait to get it all together. 650+ hp/1200+ft/lbs of torque.
