The intercooled trucks had a connection under the dash. Early trucks don't have this and need a signal from the alternater or from magnets on the crank pulley.

buy an after market tach sould come with a pickup coil and magnets you glue to the crank mine is a isspro kit but Im not shure I'd buy isspro again the egt sticks at 900 the tachs started bouncingat idel
