I bought a wrecked 92 and just got it together. It has an Autometer tach that pickes up off the alt. Was there ever a factory or dealer installed tach that uses the crank sensor signal in the pcm. I do not like the tach I have and it works when it want to anyway. I would apreciate any help if there is such thing and where I may find one. Thanks again

Yes there were dealer installed quits that ran off of the crank sensor. There are also some good aftermarket tachs available also. If you want to get rid of the altenator pickup tach, let me know.

As Paul stated, there was a factory add-on tach available at one time but it is highly doubtfull if you can find a new one since they were discontinued a good while back and there was a final run to get what was left at least 6 to 9 months ago and very few were found then. I bought an Ispro tach for my 93. They have one designed to use the factory wiring harness conections under the dash. It reads from 0 to 4000 rpm. Seems to work well and I am happy with it. Hope this helps.

PS The factory tach was a dash mount model.

My Isspro tach runs off 2 magnets on the crank pulley. Haven't had a problem with it in 3 years since I installed it.

Factory Tach

Posted a photo of the factory tach a while back in another thread. Hope it will work here again!
