Ive never installed one on a diesel. I was wondering where to get an aftermarket one, and how to install it. i have a 92 350 4x4 with the 3spd auto (727?) (no overdrive) and 350 rears. ive driven diesels for a long time, and can tell when the motor is out of its sweet spot. I dont like taking my truck over 55mph because the rpms are too high. i know the governor is there just in case. thanks, chuck

Hi Chuck,

I have an Autometer tach #2888 on my rig. It's really picky about where you place the sensor probe; works great right at the 8 o'clock position and you'll need to calibrate it after installation. Isspro makes a nice one that will work off the crank sensor that I believe came on our year and later(?) There is a plug under the dash by the steering column you can tap into. Hope this sheds light on the subject.
