What would be a better solution for my needs. I am planning on upgrading the exhaust (full 4") and putting on a better intake system and that is pretty much all on the truck for now. I only tow about 5-7k with my trailer and that is pretty much it. I use the truck for a DD to and from work about 30 miles round trip. So would the TAG or the torque tube be more benificial.

I am a total newbie on this stuf so this is why I am asking. I just want to make the right choice on what to add to the truck.

Any thoughts? I have read the threads on the TAG and it seams like it might be the better choice, but I don't know much about the Torque Tube as I have not seen much on that subject on how it performs.

Thanks

Doug

I thought about it for a long time and ended up talking to Mike Meehan at DPP yesterday and my TAG will be here via UPS next WednesdayOo. Oo. . We shall see, but I really think it will be beneficial towing as my good friend Fireman has assured me:D .

Blufrog my recommendation is the TAG. The torque arm probably helps too and I haven't tried it but I like my TAG, won't go without it.

I thought of both as well, but I don't think the TAG will fit the Torque Tube as it needs the silencer to fit against. I am leaning more torwards the TAG at this point as it sounds like it has lots of benifits especially for towing.

Does the Tag sit against the plastic silencer tube thats between the two rubber elbows or does sit up against the silencer ring thats in the turbo housing?

I hope I am right on this, my TAG is on a UPS truck that left Spokane early yesterday morning:D .

As I understand it, the TAG fits into the recess or groove at the end of the rubber boot next to the turbo, when you put the boot on, you reach in and press the TAG right up to the turbo housing, then tighten up the clamp. The TAG is . 800" thick and it extends a little into the neck of the turbo. There is a rubber o-ring seal that gets compressed on the outside of the turbo neck.

I am not the best at explaning things, but I hope this helps.

So do you have to remove the silencer ring to install the TAG? Seems like I am in the minority for liking my truck quiet. Will the TAG make the truck much louder? How much difference does removing the silencer ring actually make?

Also I assume it will work with my AFE intake; will it?

DFrank, read This Thread and you will get a better understanding, here is a quote from Car_Nut57 (page 3 in link) whom is making the TAG I believe.

"Yes, we have done some testing with the new TAG and no silencer ring. it works much better with the silencer ring installed as it comes from the factory. So far those who have tried both the small TAG and this new one have commented that the new one performs much better than the little one and is much smoother. Thank you for the feed back on the TAG performance. "

So it seams to me you need the silencer ring installed, so this is why I and a few others are wondering if it will work with the torque tube. I will post the question in that thread and see if I get any responce on it.

Thanks

Doug

You do not remove the silencer ring, it is recommended that you leave it in. The TAG is actually supposed to make the turbo quieter.
