I installed a TAG into the intake side of the compressor and have some news. My MPG went up 1 mile per gallon. Was getting 20. 6 on avg. , now the last two tanks were 21. 6 & 21. 7. My driving is 60% freeway at 70 mph and 40% stop and go. Truck driving is solo with no extra weight in bed. I have not used the TAG while pulling but will soon find out in 5 weeks.

Keep us posted. How many miles on your truck? How would you characterize your driving style - eggs under the go pedal, like you stole it, or somewhere in between :)

Has anyone with a 600 and 4X4 installed one yet?

As far as I know, the TAG-II is not available for the 3rd gen engines.

I, too, have recently installed a TAG. However, I am not able to honestly quantify it's beneficial effects. My fuel mileage has been a bit better (maybe 0. 8 - 1. 0 MPG per tankful), but I cannot honestly attribute this solely to the TAG (since installation I have changed fuel filters and oil/filter).

Having said that, if I had it to do over again I'd still buy the TAG. In fact, if they ever make a TAG-II for the 3rd gens, I'll buy that one. :)

I put one on my 04 nothing fantastic but you can tell its there. Little better mpg 1 sometimes more and I drive the same way all the time. I think they have the Tag II out now. I would buy it again.

It only takes a few minutes to install and my wife could do it after I showed her which end of the screwdriver to hold on to ;)

I t did not take too long to install, maybe 1 hour. I have the basic TAG. My truck has 24,000 miles on it. Also one needs to keep the funnel ring inside the compressor housing to keep the air velocity up. My driving style is mild, I let the torque bring the truck up to speed rather than mashing down the peddle to get up to speed. I had the truck weighed and with the shell on, only 3 gallons of fuel in the tank and me standing off the truck scale it weighs 6780 pounds. So with my 170 pounds plus a fill up it is a honest 7000 pound truck. I am just very happy getting a consistant 21. 7 mpg.

Just installed a BD short shift kit last night, love that too. That was a piece of cake to install, 2 hours max. The directions were not good and the six speed is so much simpler than the five speed when looking at the directions.

I thought the NV-5600 was perfect even before I put on the short shifter... ... ... ... ... what a great little mod, it is really fun to shift and I have had no leaks whatsoever.

tks gang

It would be nice to take it out and try 2 tanks of summer fuel and see if there is any difference. . The fuel does change from time to time and i would hope you would fill at the same station etc. . Good Article and i will watch with hope this proves out positive , then i'll buy one. .

Turbo Bob, Could you describe the benefits of the the new shifter? Will it make for easier shifting for my new to drivivg 5' 92lb daughter? tks.

The short shift kit just makes the throw a little shorter and closer together, so one does not need long arms. It also helps with the speed when shifting because your spending less time getting to the next gear. The feel of the trans is the same, it does not appear to make the effort any less.

Here is southern California I dont think we get the winter diesel????? We just had the first day of summer two weeks ago and its been in the 80's to 100's. Before I had the TAG in there I went to Lake Tahoe and the diesel had been altered, about 2 mpg less.

Installed the TAG in the 04 and wanted to see a difference in something but saw none. could be me!!!!!! Removed for base line tow to Mexico. Will reinstall in the next week or so and look closer.
