compressed air for big twins or single?

This question is for the TAG users out there. I am interested in more feedback about this product. For those of you that bought one, how do you like it and would you buy it again? Has anyone had any problems with it?

For those of you that dont know what I am talking about: read more here:

Thanks for the replies.

I had one---

actually I have run all three. In my 02 I cant tell much difference between the 1 and 2. It did seem like the tag 3 moved the power band up. IMO I would run the tag 1. It seems like the best choice for the money. In a 03 or newer you pretty much have to run the tag 3

I installed the TAG 1 for 2 reasons:

1. When towing our 5th wheel, I was hearing turbo instability at wide sustained throttle openings in 6th gear around 2300 RPM - a "whoomp whoomp" sound that I suspected was a result of turbulent airflow into the impeller due to the 180* bend in the inlet duct. Since honeycomb flow straighteners are recognized technology in aerospace, wind tunnels, etc. , I thought the TAG 1 might help the situation. It did - since installing it, the instability has disappeared.

2. With the BHAF, turbo whine while towing our 5th wheel on long trips was getting tedious and nerve-wracking. The TAG 1 cut probably 80% of the turbo racket.

I agree. After I installed my TAG 1 my family asked me what I had done to the truck. The turbo is much quieter now. It also seems to spool quicker.

I like mine, I run a Scotty two and it really cut the noise down. as to performance, I couldn't guage it, as I get 29 psi with RV275 and supertuner. I not sure the waste gate a 100% closed those. Seems quick but I am running a Peirs HX35 setup.

I have the TAG I it seems to have quited the turbo down some and seems to help when towing up hills. It seems to run 100 degrees cooler on the egt.

Tag II

Installed Tag II on '01 A/T past fall. Hard to judge actual performance until

summer but definite change in sound and seems to run smoother at launch.

Good Luck :)

Tag on dyno same truck same day = less power with it in

More power when taken out. BTW it's hanging on the wall at Dyno-Mite Diesel in Monroe Wa.

Mad Bomber,

It is common for the TAG to show very small max hp drop especially with trucks above 400hp at the tires. The TAG really is intended to help make the turbo work more efficiently by redirecting the air just before the compressor. With this in mind the benefits are really in day to day driving and towing situations, not full throttle excursions on the dyno. We have some test data on our website that shows as much as 9% increase in air flow at the same boost pressures in the Dodge Cummins applications. Many who are towing have reported increases in fuel mileage as well, which these days anything we can do to stretch fuel is worth doing.
