I installed one of these babies on my tailgate this weekend (about 20 minutes) and I couldn't be happier with it. This thing should be standard equipment! It even comes with all the torx drivers you need! Nice piece of equipment.

That looks cool, I hope it is, cause I just ordered one! I don't know how many times I've went to get in the back of the truck, have something in one hand, and you know the rest. Should be able to send the 9 year old daughter on errands to the truck bed when we're camping now! Thanks for the heads up on this-CKruse

Hmm. I just let the tailgate drop. Never thought twice about it. It it decided to rip off one day and break my legs, oh well. :D

I would hope that its a joke, but I could see it happening. That thing weighs a good 45-50lbs

Yeah I'm just joking. I just let it down... not like the in the video on that web sight. I did that once to my brother's GMC and he about crapped a brick. haha. I guess it's just plastic parts that holds it together on those things.

I think the Geno's Gateglide is a down assist AND an up assist, where the EZDown controls the gate opening only; it doesn't help with closing the tailgate.

I just put mine on and it works pretty good. The tailgate seems to go up a little assisted too. It sure works good going down!

How easy are these to dis- engage for removal of the tailgate. Y'all talk of this like its the cat's meow such that I might have to think about one... . but I do take the tailgate off many of times to load up the TC. Is it a PIA for such a chore?

Look at the website, they have an install video. TO take off the tailgate, you can just unhook the cable like you would the stock cables and taker her off... extra 15 sec or so

I have used 2 tarp straps about 21" long for 5 years and $3. 00 still working good. :D They work so well I took them off my 99 when I traded it in and reinstalled them on my new truck in 30 seconds. :D
