Maybe one of you guys that have a 3500 SRW can answer this. Does it come with the lights on the tail gate like a 3500 DRW?

They don't come that way unless you order the cab-clearance lights. Duallys have them because it is a DOT requirement for all vehicles 80" or wider to have side markers. I beleive the combination of the 5 lights on the cab (usually 1. . 3. . 1) and the 5 on the rear of the truck (1 on the left fender. . 3on the tailgate. . and 1 on the right fender) is what is required to meet DOT regulations.

But those lights on the tailgate sure are butt-ugly, eh!?

Yeah, I hate to say the "F" word, but Ford has the right idea... the three lights are hidden in the space between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the tailgate. This makes more sense, especially for those of us who need to remove the tailgate ever so often. It looks like the same idiot who designed the triple wide center cab clearance lights for the chevy cabs defected to DaimlerChysler to work on the rear tailgate lights. How does something like that ever get past the prototype phase?!

it looks like the 3500 all come standard with cab clearence lights, including the SRW versions. do the single rear wheel versions have the ugly tailgate center light like the dually equiped tailgates do?

Nick,

What do you mean UGLY?? :--) I happen to like them. At least the tailgate light didn't leak like the ones on the roof. I think the tailgate lights are sorta pretty. :D :D

Hell, my wife thought that was the best part of the truck. Who am I to argue? Cheers from the banana belt of Canada.

Casey,

I take delivery of my new rig Monday, Christmas is early this year. I'm curious about the the wiring for the tailgate light. I have a slide in and the gate must be removed for the camper. What is involved for removing the tailgate, is there some kind of plug?

Thanks

Yes, there is a connecter under the back of the box. Just disconnect and take your tailgate off. A good idea to seal the end of the connector portion that is left on the truck. Good luck.

The SRW doesn't have the big Butt lights, nor can you deselect the cab clearance lights when ordering. I'm starting to like the clearance lights.

Casey, Monday the truck will be at Hijacker 24/7 till there is a solution to the hitch problem.

Ken. Good luck on the hitch. I think I will end up having a friend tow my fiver into storage. The new Pullrite is at least two weeks away. Let me know how you make out.
