I'm thinking about putting the 3500 tailgate light bar on my truck, I'd like to know if that bar is he only thing I should get from Dodge (Mopar4less)? Can I get the lenses and bulbs from NAPA? I know the bar is specifically made for the tailgate, but are the lights and lenses from another manufacturer? Thanks...

The Lights used on the 3500 are Hella's. I have a set of them (Complete 2 amber and 5 red) off my dually as I replaced mine with Grote LED models. To answer the question, yes. Any series 19 lamp will fit. Trucklite, Grote, Maxxima, Petersen... ... they all make them.

Not sure if you can see clearly or not, I just used 3 LED Lights with mounting backs and drilled into the tailgate to mount them. Tapped into the License plate light for power and thats it.

Only thing that's nice about the bar is the way it contours into the saddle of the tailgate body. And I do think Bill's right, you have to buy the complete unit.

$102!!!

My 3 LED Lights which will last 100,000 hrs. cost me only $30 for the lights themselves. Had the wire to tap into the plate light wire and hooked it up... ...

The athetics looks is not enough for me to spend the extra amount.

Oky I got the light bar today, and yes it was just the light bar (plastic piece), now how should I wire up the lights themselves? If I ge the lights will they come wth a back piece so as they're not in the open? Not sure what to do from here, don't want to get the harness if I don't really need to. Thanks

The harness from DC woule really make life alot easier, although if you go the route of Grote or Trucklite you can buy the surface mount harness (can get you the PN if you need it) for each individual lite and make your own harness. Just get a two wire waterproof disconnect and tap it into the parking lamp at the license plate lamp.

Kalaehina- No, it wouldn't be difficult. I'm not sure how much room there is under the stock plastic bar, the aftermarket pigtails use a much beefier wiring and harness, but I'd think it would be pretty easy to do, you could solder the leads and stuff them into the tailgate, leaving only the base exposed, and you should have enough room.

The Grote PN for the pigtail for series 19 lamp is 66982.

I prefer Grote over Trucklite, but that's just personal preference;) .

Trucklite has a nearly identical mount.

Thanks for the info Kev, now of any good online sources I can get the parts from? Had our parts guy at work today search for the Grotes, and of course (what's new here on the island) nobody had the in stock. I don't mind ordering thm if I have too. Thanks again...

Aloha Kalaehina, I guess that's the price you pay for living in paradise. ;)

I found REALLY good prices on Grote and trucklite after becoming best friends with the regional sales manager for FleetPride, but On line, I would suggest Buy Truck Stuff or Blake Sales .

Both have really good prices and service.

OH and I forgot, the headlight switch meltdown primarily effected dually's between 94 and 97?? ... . can't remember there is a TSB and recall for it at the dealer, you might want to look into it. They have a heavier switch with a relay in it now. If you don't have Cab lights, or even if you do, the LED lights won't add enough to worry about if you haven't had any problems yet. Remember that LED lights use a fraction of what their incandescent sisters do.

:) You da man Kev!, thanks for the info, going to get on it this week. Also, I did have to replace my headlight switch once because it burned, maybe I did get the newer one already?? Have to check on it. Thanks again!!!
