Just wanted to let everyone who wants the Tailgate Lights for there truck who does not have them. The light kit was available through Dodge under P/N #82401355 for around $38. I went to order the part and found it not available no longer. My dealer did a computer search and found several dealerships who show to have it in stock. I was able to order it through one of the dealerships and save $$$. If the parts are bought seperate it will cost approx. $100. The kit is real nice comes with everything including instuctions and a wiring harness (no splices and looks factory). I have some of the #'s of dealers who show to have the kit in stock but not sure of there locations. Just give them a call and save. 504-639-7541, 505-257-4081, 1800-750-4482, 1800-423-5337. There may be more this was just what my dealer gave me.

Hey bakwudz,
I checked with my dealer today and his catalog did not state if the kit included the wiring harness or not. It just said the tailgate lights. The part number matched perfectly though.

His price was $38. 50 #ad
big deal #ad

Did your dealers catalog state if the wiring harness was included or not #ad

I have the kit. Yes, they include wiring everything you need. If you have cab lights, then these are a must!

As long as the kit P/N is the same it has the wire harness. The kit is so easy to put on and looks so good on the truck.

Ok. I'll bite. How did you get the wire down from the newly installed lights to that convenient hole in the bottom of the tailgate? I couldn't see the trick to it...

Thanks

Vic.

I purchased P/N #82401355 ($32 from the dealer I purchases my 2000 RAM 2500 from) four days ago. These lights installed in 15 minutes start to finish. I followed the complete instructions that came with the kit and had no problems fishing the wires through the existing, generous hole in the bottom of the tailgate-with my fat fingers.
I hope all of my additions are this easy.

Wish I had known there was a kit to do it from DC... I paid about $100 for all the separate parts. For my 2001 I'll see if I can get a kit, if not, I'll just blow $100 bucks... Again... *LOL*

The wiring harness I used did not match up to the plug on my truck. I spliced it into the tag light wires. Did you guys have the same problem?

Andy,

I installed P/N #82401355 on my 2000 RAM 2500. This Rear ID Bar Kit required a ¾" hole in the tailgate to allow a plug and cable attached to the ID bar to be fed into the tailgate. This cable exits the center bottom of the gate and goes under the box through the existing hole centered under the tailgate.
The left license lamp connector from the truck's existing wiring harness was disconnected. A jumper harness, included with the kit, reconnected the license lamp to the existing truck wiring harness and provided a place to attach the cable and plug from the ID bar.
An easy install, this kit is well worth the $32 cost from my dealer.

Sparky-

Did you try calling those numbers listed in the orginal post? I believe those numbers are dealers that had them in stock.

I located a light kit and installed it this afternoon. It is great and it was one the easiest installs ever. I located a dealer in Albuquerque who conducted a part search and found one at a dealer in Phoenix who had one in stock. They shipped it out right away.

If anyone is looking for one of these, there is also a dealer in Santa Fe, NM and one in Colorado (Denver I think) that still has them, as of 4-18-00.

Thanks bakwudz for the heads up and everyone else for the assistance. This is a great place if you ever need help or assistance in anything!!!

do the lights in the kit indicate the manufacturer for the OEM part - I have been trying to track these lights down - both the red and amber for awhile now with limited success.
