tryed to install my first tailgate lock. It required screwing it to the front side of tailgate from the back side, via the torques head. It was like trying to double nut a bolt that can't be reached:--) . Took it back. Ask for my original request of a pop&lock. It came in and is the same method as previous brand. This is not the original style pop&lock:confused: I want to return it but the store owner is complaining:-{} . I told him I would pay S&H. Does anyone know of a better product or can help with the install.

A couple years (or so) ago there was a thread on Bully Truck Accessories tailgate lock. I purchased one, but never installed it. I gave it to my budy Randy that had lost the bezel around his latch from hauling a camper. He installed it and the lock works, but the supposed permanent replacement bezel still popped out.

Found the website Bully Truck Accessories The prices was right, too. I paid less than $20 for the unit.

I changed my mind and decided when it was time for a tail gate lock to go for an electric unit and wire it in with my door locks or trunk release on a remote.

yea, I had a Pop & Lock, the bezel came out, and it slid in, turn the key and you're done. No screwing invloved.

Did not work worth a hoot--the whole truck was stolen.

Just installed the Pop & Lock that is permanently mounted taking that Torx screw out and replacing it with their screw... no problem and I like it better than their old style which had to be completely removed to open the tailgate, that was a pain. Is it really a Pop & Lock or another similar brand? I saw another brand and it didn't impress me and when I asked for a Pop & Lock they showed me this other brand. I went to another store & got the Pop & Lock.

Thanks J,

I didn't try the pop&lock becouse I was afraid of going through taking everything apart again, only to end up with the same hassel. guess I'll give it a try to tomorrow. Will let you know how it goes.

A friend of mine drives a late model Chevy. He has power locks. He installed a power operated lock on his tail gate. Everything is in the tail gate, really clean looking you can not tell it is there. To lock and unlock the tail gate you simply operate the power door locks. It works with the keyless entry if you have it. Very slick set up.

He told me he purchased it at Sears. I would think they make one of these for Dodge.

I have a hard tonneau cover. It keeps everything locked up out back for me.

Just thought some of you may be interested in this.

Shoveljunk,

Glad you got it installed and that you like it.

I should have honked and waved when I went thru Modesto on 99 going to Fresno today.
