2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Tailgate question

Are all 2nd Gen tailgates interchangeable? I have a '97 and I'm wondering if any tailgate '94-'02 will work on my truck!?

Thanks. I'm having my '97 repainted and need a tailgate. Right now, I have a louvered fifthwheel tailgate(destroyed original on fifthwheel pin box) and want to switch back to a normal gate.

I put one from an 01' on my 99' after somebody stole mine. It looks really good but you can slightly see irregularities as far as clearances are concerned. Looks good though and it'll work for you.

I may be wrong about this but I think in the middle of the 94 year model they changed the bed and gate. One was wider than the other but I have forgot which. I was told this by a salesman at the dealership when I ordered my truck but most of blow a lot of smoke anyway.

Thanks for the info. I actually found a gate from a '97 in brand new condition. Picking it up on Wednesday.

The gates are the same, only difference is Sport is fully painted, non Sport has ridged Plastic on bottom, 3500 have tailgate lights 94-2002
