I saw the topic and my first thought was "oh no, not on Dodges too"
If you have owned a late model GM pickup, you know what I mean. For some reason, the General cannot build a tailgate that stays together. Cables, latch mechanism and especially the release handle trim piece. I learned to keep my hand on the tailgate after closing it because several times I would close it and it wouldn't latch but it would fall back down and twice it broke both cables. Same thing happened 3 times to a friend.
Next time you are at a light behind a newer GM pickup- see if the handle trim piece looks crooked (some of the mounting tabs broken) or missing (ALL of the tabs broken. That P. O. C. plastic part cost me $35.
That part of my GMC I do not miss.
