Tailpipes on the new chevy's and Fords diesels

What's up with the funky tail pipes on these new trucks? why the louvered parts?

Anyone have a picture of them? I'd like to see what you mean. Don't spend much time looking at new trucks.

It is because during the regeneration cycle the gasses can exceed 600degrees

its because of the extreme heat from when the truck goes into burn off mode.

dont park in the tall grass:-laf or by the neighbors rose bush

the 6. 7 doesn't have that. so in the last foot there that draws in enough cool air?
