I replaced mine yesterday. There is a pretty noticeable difference in the construction of the seal. Where there used to be metal, there is now metal, with a layer of what looks like a rubber coat over the metal. The lip seems to be thicker, too. The inner circle of the seal looked basically the same as the one I replaced. The drip boot is not as long, and it tapers more abruptly at the end, instead of gradually. The invoice for the seal reads:

5086054-AA SEAL OUTP 21060012

I'm not sure which one of those is the P/N, but now you all have it if you want it. Cost - $36. 95 from the dealer.

Thanks John, I was under mine last night running the wire for the lift pump and noticed the 5spd output shaft seal is leaking AGAIN. this will be the 3rd seal (including the orginal one) in 87K.

I have a 2001. 5 Auto 4X4 and DC and myself have replaced the seal coming out where the rear driveshaft goes in about a half dozen times. (and it's leaking again  )

Is this cure just for two wheel wheel drives???
