Taking the grandson camping !

Routine ? Hardly, our grandson was born 16 months ago with a congenital heart defect that necessitated emergency medical services being close by. So, he's never been out of town, let alone camping with his nana and papa.

21 April saw the little dude on the table for 4. 5 hours of open heart surgery. 5 days later he was home. Last week the cardiologist pronounced him repaired and cleared him to lead a normal little boys life. So, we're heading out in about 2 hours for a long weekend enjoying his new life.

God is good! Reminds me of our son now 30 that had open heart surgery when he was 18 mo. old, and I'm sure the skills have come a long way since then. Keep grinnin,

The trip was a pure joy and he scored one up all all the other family members. He actually walked a below the rim trail in Grand Canyon. His Mom (my daughter) was 5 before her first hike. And at 9 yrs. all three of my children backpacked to the bottom for the first time. If I temper my enthusiasm he might get old enough to join me for my thousandth mile below the rim (I'm 29 miles from that plateau).
