My factory michelin 215/85-16's are ready to be replaced. Since most of my driving is on flat florida hiways (70mph) i want something taller to lower my rpm's on the hiway. Has anyone put 255/85-16's on a dually? I know that i'll need spacers for the rear, but will the front's hit the fenders? Are there any other tall sizes that would work on a dually? Thanks for the help.

I've got the 255/85/16's on my 2500 long box. They are great. I checked my speedometer the other day with my new eMap GPS by Garmin and it said that we were traveling 73 mph and indicating 70 on the speedo. They give me about another 1" in cab height and a little more ground clearance.

Hope this helps

Chris, you can put the 255's on your truck but the sidewalls are going to be real close if they don't touch. The rims on the 01's have a different offset and we handle the 255's with no problems. I put 235's on my 99 and the sidewalls were fairly close but worked fine. I use the Mitchelin LTX 235/85 in the AT tread design and they were 10% off the the speedo. 50 was 55 and 60 was 66 miles per hour. Hope this helps. Regards Pete

Hey RPhCummins - did you need the external antenna with you GPS or did it work fine without it? - I want to use the same Garmin 48 in my truck that I use on my boat but wondered about all of that steel blocking the satellite signals #ad
- also - did you hard-wire you GPS into the truck's electrical power so that you didn't have to run off the GPS batteries?
