can someone explain to me 1 what this ring is for 2 where does it go 3 what does it fix? now that i have 6. 5" of lift i have a vibration when i take off, i am tryin to find what this is. what what can i do to fix it. thanks

The ring, if available for your truck, allows the transfer case to be 'clocked' - rotated to rais or lower the front output yoke. Generally, clocking rings are used to raise the front output so that the xfer case doesn't hang down as low - it effectively allows you to increase the ground clearance under the vehicle. In your case you might be able to lower the front output in order to reduce the operating angle(s) for the u-joints. You may run into clearance issues because as the xfer case is 'clocked' the front output moves side to side due the radius from the center line of the xfer case.

I have had mine in for over a year and no probs--as described by nvr fnsh it will re-index the t-case--it goes between the t-case and o/d unit--you will need a new seal and there should've been a bushing also due to the thickness of the spacer (5/8" I think)---depending on what lift you have you may have to modifiy your crossmember or skid plate to clear the cardigan---is should help with the vibration---chris

Remove the front drive shaft and drive the truck to see if the front drive shaft is the vibration problem before spending the time & money on re-indexing the t-case.

Also, make sure the rear drive line angles are correct - with a SWB and 6. 5" lift you may have a problem.

good points there NVR FNSH--

DF you could do the same with the rear driveshaft by removing it also and just driving with the front one installed--the reindexing ring won't help the rear vibration though if that's the prob---chris

Its a 2001, the front driveshaft should not be spinning when you are in 2wd. If there is a vibration in 2wd, you need to adjust (shim) your rear axle to get the proper pinion angle. The indexing ring will not help with that. It ONLY affects the front driveshaft. If it is a 4wd issue only, then yes, the indexing ring will help. My truck has 7. 5" of lift and the driveshaft in front was almost unuseable because of the operating angle. I had Driveline Service of Sacramento "clearance" my c/v joint in the front so it wouldn't knock against itself in rotation. Now I can use 4wd with no issue.

I just reread your post and if you only have the vibration on take off, it sounds like an axle wrap problem. If its in 2wd and it only happens on acceleration, you might need a wrap bar. The pinion could be rotating up on acceleration and causeing a vibration with a bad angle. If it smooths out without accel, it could likely be the problem.
