as of yesterday, tapatalk was acting weird and not able to display topics.

All the other forums I use are just fine.

Thanks

There was a notification that TDR was going to drop Tapatalk. I don't remember the date as I don't use it but being its the first of the month Id wager it may be a thing of the past.

Ah, too bad. I guess I am now a thing of the past too.

Tapatalk support ended yesterday (11/30). Not happy about it as it was by far the best interface on my phone. The mobile version of TDR is nice but my old, tired eyes have trouble reading it on the small screen.

We announced this a week in advance of deactivation, and unfortunately, no Tapatalk user took the opportunity to comment about it.

Tapatalk has been making ongoing moves for several years to gain more and more control of forums and their content, to their benefit and to the detriment of the forum owners. The latest is their block-chain implementation, which basically makes any posts on forums their content, not the forums.

@MarkEagleUSA , if you use Chrome you can go into Settings -> Accessibility you can change font scaling.

Well, TT users never saw the announcement. I happened to catch it Thursday evening when I logged in in my laptop.

I've been playing with the settings but, frankly, the TT interface was simplicity at its finest.

I'm sure I'll get used to this new interface over time.

I wish I had better news for you, but given how Tapatalk is looking more and more like its all about them, and not their forum partners, and ways they can further monetize their users with no say in it from the forums we felt it was in the best long term interest of TDR to go on without them. I am working on setting up push notifications here, so you can get notified on your phone (or desktop) of things similar to the way Tapatalk does.

I too did not see the notification.

Sorry that Tapatalk is difficult to work with but for a forum they I pay a subscription fee to, that is a convenience that I want considering most of my forum reading is done on my phone.

Without Tapatalk support, I am not very inclined to renew my subscription.

Tapatalk is nice, I dont see it as a show stopper, but understand the all in one shop for different forums.

It seems alot of us are on multiple forums for sure its nice to keep the streamlined look and feel.

But I found lately on Tapatalk its super glitchy, I will be writing posts then they all disappear, I have to exit it says do you want to save, say yes, close and open reply, then it will sometimes paste in what I want to say sometimes its there but blank. This could be on my end for sure could be user error, but I wind up opening the forum in the webview anyway to fix my posts.

But for TDR I set up a shortcut on my home screen and for me I only have forums go to one email address separate from other primary emails so when I set up push for that acct I get the notifications I subscribe to.

Usually jusy check the Forum tab and then "new post" or "todays post"

Not to diminish the loss of Tapatalk or whatever it is as I have never used it, but with a "Favorite" shortcut and the "Today's Posts" button that I always request be re-installed after any upgrade it is very simple to run the TDR on a smartphone...

I don't understand the hubbub......and also hate to see members leave over it....

I only use a smartphone and chrome for now. So agree no loss for me, and I don't personally like the Tapatalk interface.

If you look at the screen shot above we have all those options you mention. I just click on the forum tab and they are always below that. My guess is "watched" is the same as "favorite". I click stay logged in when I sign in.

The content outweighs the interface for sure.

I would not enable push on my phone I have enough stuff sending me notifications as it is.

I signed up for a new forum will screen shot that diaster of push notification, I get 5 notices any update of my posts, 2 from google inbox, 2 from gmail, 1 from tapatalk. I will clean it up quickly but push is available for all of us now.

The forum is free without any subscription fee. The magazine is a paid subscription.
